The Foundation’s name derives from the summer of 1984 in Washington, DC, when two lifelong friends decided to channel their desire to give back into a permanent foundation that reflected their values. At 29 and 30 years old, respectively, they were entering a new season of life. They incorporated the Foundation in 1985 in Washington and operated out of donated office space in Washington, New York, and Little Rock, before reincorporating in 2004 in Arkansas.
